[LSX] Configure a Safari shortcut to a specific LSX URL on an iPad

This article will review configuring a Safari shortcut to a specific URL on an iPad.

This article contains two sections listed below.

• Configure a Safari shortcut to Your LSX Login Page
• Configure Safari to allow access to the LSX URL only (Optional but recommended)

Configure a Shortcut to Your LSX Login Page

Open "Safari".

In the address bar in "Safari", enter your URL for your Lightspeed Retail X Series login page.

Touch the 'Send To' icon in the upper right hand corner of the Safari window.

A new window will appear in the upper right hand corner.  Touch the 'v' icon labeled "View More".

The window will expand.  Touch "+ Add to Home Screen"

A new window will appear labeled "Add to Home Screen".  Use the top box to rename shortcut to something short, like "LSX Login".

In the window named "Add to Home Screen", disable the option named "Open as Web App".

Touch "Add"

The new shortcut will be located on your iPad's Main Page

Configure Safari to view specific websites

Follow the below steps to configure Safari to only allow access to your LSX page.

Open "iPad Settings"

Select "Screen Time" from the left hand menu

Touch "Lock Screen Time Settings" in the "Screen Time" window

Enter and confirm a Screen Time Passcode.  Make sure it is different from your device passcode and it is documented for future reference

It is highly recommended to setup password recovery for "Screen Time".  

Enter your email address or phone number associated with your Apple account/ID

Touch  OK 

In the Screen Time window, under the "Restrictions"section select Content & Privacy Restrictions

In the Content & Privacy Restrictions, enable Content & Privacy Restrictions

Enter the Screen Time Passcode previously setup

In the Content & Privacy Restrictions window, enable Content & Privacy Restrictions

In the Content & Privacy Restrictions window, select App Store, Media, Web, & Games

In the App Store, Media, Web, & Games window, select Web Content under the Web Content section

In the "Web Content" window, touch "Only Approved Websites"

Under "Only allow these approved websites", touch "Add Website" 

Enter a title for the website, 'LSX' 

Enter the same URL used in creating the Safari shortcut, preceded with 'https://'

Touch the "<" icon to go back to the previous page.
