This article will walk you through assembling the iPad hardware bundle for Lightspeed Retail X Series from iPOS that includes the below equipment.
- iPad with Click Case and screen protector
- APC Battery Backup Unit
- Epson TM-m30II-SL Receipt printer with integrated stand
- 13" cash drawer with cash drawer cable and set of keys
- Apple Magic Keyboard with Numeric Keypad and a USB A to Lightning cable for charging
- Mobile Tap v2 reader for Lightspeed Payments
Box 1 includes the below equipment.
- Cash drawer
Box 2 includes the below equipment.
- Epson TM-m30II-SL Receipt printer with cash drawer cable, USB A to USB C cable for charging/communication with the iPad, and another USB A to USB C cable for charging the Mobile Tap v2 reader for Lightspeed Payments.
Box 3 includes the below equipment.
- APC Battery Backup Unit
- iPad with Click case and screen protector installed
- Apple Magic Keyboard with Numeric Keypad and a USB A to Lightning cable for charging.
- Mobile Tap v2 reader for Lightspeed Payments
- Open box #1.
- Remove the two "L" brackets and put them to the side.
- Remove the cash drawer from the box.
- Remove the four plastic shipping corners from the cash drawer.
- Remove the included sheet and plastic bag from the cash drawer.
- Remove the cardboard cover on the front of the cash drawer by pulling it out towards you and then remove the set of keys for the cash drawer from the cardboard cover.
- Turn the cash drawer around so that you are looking at the rear of the unit and you see two vertical Loop & Hook strips that are to the left and right of the center of the cash drawer.
- Take the two "L" brackets that were included with the cash drawer and face them upwards with the section that has the hole in it at the bottom facing you with the Loop & Hook strip facing away from you..
- With the cash drawer laying on a flat surface, take the two "L" brackets and line them up with the two Loop & Hook strips on the rear of the cash drawer with the bottom of the "L" brackets are flush with the flat surface and firmly press them against the rear of the cash drawer to secure them. Note: It is necessary to make sure that the bottom of the two "L" brackets are flush with the flat surface so that they provide the needed strength to support the receipt printer/stand.
- Open box #2.
- Remove the plastic tray and document from the box.
- Remove the small cardboard box that includes a small roll of thermal paper and put it off to the side.
- Remove the two top packing pieces from the box.
- Remove the printer/stand from the box.
- Remove the printer/stand from the bag.
- Lay the printer/stand down.
- Turn the printer/stand around so that you are looking at the right side of it.
- Use the included Phillips screwdriver to remove the screw from the plastic cover and place it to the side.
- With the screw removed, now remove the plastic cover.
- With the plastic cover removed, move the locking switch from the bottom to the top.
- Turn the printer/stand facing you and then pull down the bottom tablet bracket as far down as it can go.
- Open box #3 and remove the iPad box from it.
- Remove the iPad from its box.
- Take the iPad with the screen facing towards you with the USB C port facing to the left, place it centered in the stand, and then raise the tablet bracket so that the iPad is secured in the stand.
- Turn the printer/stand around so that you are looking at the right side of it and then move the locking switch to the down position.
- Install the plastic cover for the locking switch.
- Put the screw back in the plastic cover and tighten it with a Phillips screwdriver. This will lock the iPad in the printer/stand.
- Take the USB C cable from the left side of the printer/stand, bring it over the top left corner of the clear plastic tray and then straight down and plug it into the USB C port on the left side of the iPad. This cable will both charge the iPad and also allow it to communicate with the receipt printer as long as the receipt printer is turned on.
- Open the small cardboard box that came with the receipt printer/stand and take the small roll of thermal receipt paper out.
- Open the lid of the receipt printer by using the release latch.
- Insert the sample roll of thermal receipt paper into the receipt printer with the paper coming from the rear bottom of the receipt printer, underneath the roll from the rear to the front, and then up the front of the roll and over the top front of the receipt printer.
- Close the top lid of the receipt printer so that the receipt paper is coming out the top of the unit.
- Remove the Mobile Tap v2 Reader box from box #3.
- Slide the box cover off so that the inside box is removed.
- Open the box to expose the Mobile Tap v2 Reader.
- Remove the Mobile Tap v2 Reader from its box.
- Turn the printer/stand around so that you are looking at it from behind and you will see a horizontal Loop & Hook strip near the top center of the unit. This is where the Mobile Tap v2 Reader will be attached to.
- Flip the Mobile Tap v2 Reader onto its face with the image of a card at the top of the unit and a horizontal Loop & Hook strip towards the bottom.
- Take the Mobile Tap v2 Reader and line up the horizontal strip of Loop & Hook on the back of it with the horizontal strip of Loop & Hook on the back of the receipt printer and firmly press and hold it for 30 seconds so that the Mobile Tap v2 Reader is tightly secured to the receipt printer as shown below.
- Take the USB C cable that comes from the bottom of the printer/stand and plug it into the USB C port on the bottom of the Mobile Tap v2 Reader. This USB C cable will continuously charge the reader as long as the receipt printer is turned on.
- Remove the box for the Apple Magic Keyboard with Numeric Keypad from box #3.
- Slide the cover off to expose the inside package.
- Remove the keyboard from the packing to expose the USB A to Lightning cable.
- Remove the keyboard from its film covering.
- Take the keyboard and align the bottom of the keyboard with the front of the cash drawer and also align the front of the keyboard using the two vertical lines with the left and right edges of the cash drawer.
- Once both alignments have been performed, press down on the keyboard and hold for 30 seconds to secure the two Loop & Hook strips that are on the top of the cash drawer and bottom of the keyboard to secure the two devices.
- Take the Lightning end of the USB A to Lightning cable that came with the keyboard and plug it into the Lightning port at the back center of the keyboard.
- Gently turn the cash drawer over onto its top side so that you are looking at the bottom of it.
- Take the cash drawer cable that comes out of the bottom of the receipt printer and plug it into the cash drawer port shown here on the bottom of the cash drawer.
- Gently turn the cash drawer over to its normal position now that the cash drawer cable from the receipt printer has been connected.
- Route the USB A to Lightning cable either to the right of left of the horizontal strip of Loop & Hook at the back center of the cash drawer and leave the USB A end of the cable hanging off the back of the cash drawer.
- Peel the backing off of the horizontal strip of Loop & Hook at the back center of the cash drawer.
- Line up the back feet of the receipt printer completely beyond the end of the Loop & Hook strips on the top of both "L" brackets at the back of the cash drawer.
- Holding the receipt printer by the top back, press the top of the "L" bracket up to securely latch the Loop & Hook between the top of the two "L" brackets and the bottom of the receipt printer.
- Press the center of the top of the receipt printer down to the cash drawer to secure the Loop & Hook to the bottom of the receipt printer.
- Remove the APC Battery Backup Unit from box #3.
- Open the box.
- Remove the AC cord from the cardboard packing and lay it outside the box in the upper right hand corner.
- Remove the top cardboard shipping piece from the box.
- Remove the new battery backup unit from the box.
- Remove the new battery backup unit from the bag.
- Flip the new battery backup unit onto its top side.
- Depress the two plastic tabs on the battery cover and pull the battery cover towards you.
- Remove the battery cover and put it to the side.
- Lay the new battery backup unit on its side and gently slide the battery towards you.
- Lay the battery down right side up and then remove the red positive battery cable from the side of the unit.
- Take the red positive battery cable and connect it to the red positive battery terminal on the battery.
- Lay the battery back down on its side and gently insert it into the battery backup unit.
- Make sure that the battery is flush with the unit and is seated properly.
- Flip the new battery backup unit on its face.
- Reinsert the battery cover and press it forward until it locks into place.
- Now the battery cover is back into place.
- Flip the new battery backup unit right side up.
- Plug the AC cord into an electrical outlet.
- Press and hold the circular power button for about 5 seconds until the status light turns solid green.
- You can now remove the yellow sticker.
- Plug the power cable for the receipt printer into the AC Outlet on the battery backup unit named "Printer Power".
- Plug the USB A end of the USB A to Lightning cable into the USB A port on the battery backup unit named "Keyboard Power".
- Turn the receipt printer on by pressing and releasing the power button at the top back right of the receipt printer.
- Turn on the iPad by pressing and holding the power button.
- Turn on the Mobile Tap v2 Reader by pressing and holding the power button.
- Verify that all components are working.
