This article will show you how to setup an Epson TM-M30II-H receipt printer with an iPad via Bluetooth and then use it with Lightspeed Retail X Series in the iPad app.
This article will first walk you through making the connection from the Epson TM-M30IIH receipt printer to the iPad using Bluetooth.
After the initial connection has been made between the receipt printer and the iPad via Bluetooth, we will then walk you through setting up the receipt printer in the Lightspeed Retail X Series app.
This article is split up into two sections listed below.

First you will need the below items to connect your Epson TM-M30II-H receipt printer to your iPad via Bluetooth.

- Epson power adapter
- AC power cable
- Roll of thermal receipt paper

Initial Physical Setup and Pairing to the iPad
- We will need to remove the rear plastic cover on the receipt printer. Place the receipt printer on its front so that you are looking at it from the back.
- Gently pry the rear cover of the receipt printer away. Once it has been removed the rear of the receipt printer will look like this.
- Next we will need to remove the bottom cover for the receipt printer. Place the receipt printer on its top so that you are looking at it from the bottom.
- Gently pry the bottom cover of the receipt printer away. Once it has been removed the bottom of the receipt printer will look like this.
- Take the connector end of the Epson power adapter and plug it into the circular port named "24V" as shown below.
- Plug the AC power cable into the Epson power adapter and then plug the other end of the AC cable into an electrical outlet.
- Place the receipt printer on its front so that you are looking at it from the back. Guide the power adapter cable to the middle of the receipt printer and then reattach the rear cover on the receipt printer.
- Flip the receipt printer on its front so that you are looking at it from the bottom and then reattach the bottom cover on the receipt printer.
- Place the receipt printer right side up and then open the lid by lifting up the release latch on the lid.
- With the lid open, insert a roll of thermal receipt paper into the receipt printer as shown below and then close the lid.
- Press and hold the Feed button on the top of the receipt printer.
- With the Feed button held down, press and release the power button on the top of the receipt printer.
- Release the Feed button once the printer starts printing a status page and then press the Feed button once to finish the status page printing. You will receive the two sections shown below.
- On the long status page, go to the section named "Bluetooth Interface" and take note of the field named "BD_ADDR" as it is needed later.
- In the iPad, tap "Settings".
- In the left hand pane in "Settings", make sure that "Bluetooth" is enabled. If it is not currently enabled, enable "Bluetooth".
- In the left hand pane in "Settings" and then tap "Bluetooth" in the main pane.
- In the main pane named "Bluetooth", you should see a listing under the section named "Other Devices" that starts with "TM-m30II-H_" as shown below.
- Tap that device listing to pair the Epson TM-M30II-H receipt printer to the iPad via Bluetooth.
- Once it has completed the pairing process, you will now see a status of "Connected" for that device which will now be listed under the section named "My Devices".
- When you look at the status lights on the top front of the Epson TM-M30II-H receipt printer, you will now see that it is paired via Bluetooth to the iPad as shown below.
Configuring the Epson TM-M30II-H Receipt Printer in Lightspeed Retail X Series via Bluetooth
- From the Home screen on your iPad, open the Lightspeed Retail X Series app.
- Log into Lightspeed Retail X Series with your credentials.
- Select the register that you will be using if one is not already open.
- From the main window pane, tap the menu button in the upper left hand corner.
- In the left hand window pane, tap "Settings".
- In the left hand window pane, tap "Hardware".
- In the main window pane, tap "Add Printer" in the section named "Receipt printers".
- In the window pane named "Add a printer", tap the tab named "Follow steps to connect and add a printer" and then tap "Next".
- Tap "Next".
- Tap the drop down menu named "Printer Brand", then tap "Epson".
- Tap the drop down menu named "Printer Model", then tap "Don't see your printer model?" and then tap "Next".
- It will inform you that the printer is not supported. Disregard this message and tap "Add printer anyway".
- In the window named "Add printer", tap the field named "Name" and enter "TM-M30II-H".
- In the window named "Add printer", tap the drop down box for the field named "Printer model".
- In the window named "Printer type", scroll down and click the listing named "Epson TM-m30 (Bluetooth)".
- In the window named "Printer type", click "< Add printer" in the upper left hand corner.
- At this point, we will need to enter the Bluetooth MAC address for the Epson TM-M30II-H receipt printer manually.
- Look at the status page print out performed in step number and enter the information for the field named "BD_ADDR" into the field named "Bluetooth address". In this example, the Bluetooth MAC address is "00:01:90:42:17:F6".
- At this point, you can modify and other options for this receipt printer as needed.
- Once everything has been setup, tap "Save" in the upper right hand corner.
- You will now see the printer definition that was created under the section named "Receipt printers".
- The Epson TM-M30II-H receipt printer is now ready to print to in the Lightspeed Retail X Series app via Bluetooth.
