How to Clear/Empty the Cache in a web Browser

Clients who are experiencing difficulties with browsing web sites should clear the cache from their web browser, close their browser and re-open their browser. 

This article is separated into two sections listed below.

• Clearing Cache in Google Chrome
• Clearing Cache in Mozilla Firefox

Clearing Cache in Google Chrome

1. Open the browser, and click on the three-bar button to the right of the address bar, and click "Settings".

2. In the left hand window pane, click "Privacy and Security".

3. In the main window pane, click "Clear browsing data".

4. In the window named "Clear browsing data", click "Advanced".

5. Set the option named "Time range" to "All time".

6. In the selection area, make sure that the options named "Cookies and other site data" and "Cached images and files" are the only ones selected.

7. Click "Clear data" to perform the process.

8. Once the process has completed, you will be taken back to the "Settings" screen and can close Google Chrome.

Clearing Cache in Firefox

1. Click on the Menu button in the upper right hand corner.

2. Click "Settings".

3. In the left hand window pane, click "Privacy & Security".

4. In the main window pane, scroll down until you get to the section named "Cookies and Site Data".

5. In the section named "Cookie and Site Data", click "Clear Data".

6. In the window named "Clear Data", make sure that the options named "Cookies and Site Data" and "Cached Web Content" are selected and then click "Clear".

7. In the window named "Clear all cookies and site data", click "Clear Now".

8. Once the process has completed, you may close Firefox.
