This article will walk you through the process of unpacking, setting up and testing a Wise POS E pin pad terminal and its accessories for Lightspeed Retail R Series.
Please note that you may not receive specific equipment based upon your internal network configuration.
In addition, the USB A power adapter that is included may be from different vendors due to availability and may look different than what is depicted in this article.
You will receive a box of equipment from iPOS for each PC that you will be processing credit cards using Lightspeed Payments.
This article will reference a standard configuration and will consist of the below boxes and the items included in each.
- Wise POS E pin pad terminal with battery
- Wise POS E charging/hard wired network dock and USB A to C charging cable
- USB A power adapter
- 5 port switch with USB C power adapter and network cable
- Network cable
First we will unpack each individual box to show the components included.
- Wise POS E pin pad terminal with battery

- 5 port switch with USB C power adapter and network cable
- Network cable
Now that all of the equipment has been unpacked, we will move forward with getting the equipment connected.
- Plug the USB C end of the power adapter into the USB C port on the rear of the network switch.
- Plug the power adapter into an available electrical outlet (preferably one on a battery backup unit).
- Unplug the network cable from the workstation that will be processing credit cards with Lightspeed Retail and plug it into the port named "Network" on the network switch.
- Take one of the two network cables included and plug one end into the port labeled "Workstation" on the switch and the other end into the network port on the workstation.
- Take the dock for the pin pad terminal and turn it upside down. Plug the USB C end of the USB A to C cable into the USB C port on the bottom of the dock for the pin pad terminal.
- Plug the USB A end of the USB A to C cable into the USB A port on the USB A power adapter.
- Plug the USB A power adapter into an available electrical outlet (preferably one on a battery backup unit).
- Take the second network cable that came with the equipment and plug one end into the port labeled "Pin Pad Terminal" on the network switch and the other end into the network port on the bottom of the dock for the Wise POS E pin pad terminal.
- You may now flip the dock for the Wise POS E pin pad terminal over to its normal position.
- Take the Wise POS E pin pad terminal and gently remove the plastic film cover from the screen by pulling the tab in the upper right hand corner of the screen down.
- Flip the Wise POS E pin pad terminal onto its face.
- In the lower left hand corner of the Wise POS E pin pad terminal, use gentle pressure to remove the battery cover off of the device.
- Prepare the battery so that it is facing you like this.
- Insert the battery into the Wise POS E pin pad terminal like this.
- Put the battery cover for the Wise POS E pin pad terminal back on the device and snap it into place around the three edges (left, right and bottom).
- Press and hold the power button on the right hand side of the Wise POS E pin pad terminal for two seconds until the unit powers on.
- Insert the Wise POS E pin pad terminal into the dock and you will see a screen like the one below.
- Once the Wise POS E pin pad terminal that is seated in the dock recognizes the hard wired network that it is connected to, you will see the below screen.
- Once the Wise POS E pin pad terminal has finished booting, you will see the idle screen shown below that means that the terminal is ready to be used with Lightspeed Retail R Series. If you look in the upper right hand corner of the screen you will see a less than and greater than symbols which means that the terminal is hard wired via the dock to your network.
- Log into Lightspeed Retail R Series here on the workstation that will be using this Wise POS E pin pad terminal.
- In the left hand window pane, click "Settings".
- In the main window pane, click "Payment Processing" in the section named "Sales".
- In the main window pane, you will see your Lightspeed Payments account and the Wise POS E pin pad terminal that you will be using.
- Click the button named "Test connection" for the Wise POS E pin pad terminal that will be used by this workstation.
- You will then see a new window appear and the results. When the communication test has been completed successfully, you will see the below screen. Click "OK" to close this window.
- Your equipment for your Wise POS E pin pad terminal has now been connected to your network and tested ready to be used.
