When you receive the WisePOS E pin pad terminal from Lightspeed Payments, a couple of things need to be done before the terminal can be configured and paired with your Lightspeed Retail R Series account.
The package that you receive from Lightspeed Payments will include the following pieces.
- 1 BBPOS Wise POS E pin pad terminal
- 1 USB A to terminal power cable (to charge the terminal if not seated in the dock)
- 1 USB A to USB C cable (to power the dock and charge the terminal)
- 1 USB A power adapter
- 1 battery for the BBPOS Wise POS E pin pad terminal
- 1 dock for ethernet connectivity and charging for the terminal
- 1 ethernet cable to connect the dock to your wired network
This article is separated into two sections listed below.

Initial Physical Setup of the Wise POS E Pin Pad Terminal
- Open the back of the terminal by lifting up from the indentation at the bottom left-hand corner of the terminal. Be careful not to apply too much pressure when removing the terminal's battery cover as you may accidentally break retaining clips on the battery cover.
- Insert the battery into the back of the terminal with the gold connectors aligned at the top of the device.
- Replace the back cover of the terminal and snap it into place.
- Plug one end of the ethernet cable into your router/switch and the other end into the ethernet port on the dock.
- Plug the USB A end of the USB A to USB C cable into the USB A power adapter.
- Plug the USB C end of the USB A to USB C cable into the USB C port on the dock.
- Place the terminal into the supplied ethernet dock.
- Plug the USB A power adapter into an AC outlet so that it will provide power to the ethernet dock and to the Wise POS E terminal in the ethernet dock.
- Turn the terminal on by holding the power button on the right-hand side of the device until the screen turns on.
Updating the Wise POS E Pin Pad Terminal and Pairing it With Your Lightspeed Retail Account
Computer
- Log into your Lightspeed Retail R Series account as a user that has permissions to access the "Settings" section of the application.
- In the left hand window pane, click "Settings".
- In the main window pane, click "Payment Processing" in the section named "Sales".
- In the main window pane, click "Configure" in the section named "Lightspeed Payments".
- In the main window pane, you will see the list of Shops that are setup for integrated credit card processing using Lightspeed Payments. Click "Add a Payment Terminal" for the specific shop that the terminal will be used at.
- In the window named "Add a Payment Terminal", click the drop down box named "Terminal Model" and select "BBPOS Wise POS E".
- Enter a name for the BBPOS Wise POS E pin pad terminal in the section named "Terminal Name".
- The BBPOS WisePOS E pin pad terminal will display a screen named "Register This Reader". Please enter the three words including the dashes in the section named "Activation Code" and then click "Add".
- This will start the updating process of the BBPOS Wise POS E pin pad terminal. This process will take multiple times to get the pin pad terminal fully updated and ready for use. The pin pad terminal will reboot multiple times until it has been fully updated. Until the pin pad terminal has been fully updated, you will need to repeat steps 2 through 9 and Lightspeed Retail will state that the connection failed as shown below. Please click "Cancel" until you finally receive notification that the connection was successful. The process of the pin pad terminal installing updates can take 30 minutes or more depending upon what version it is at when it is shipped by Lightspeed Payments.
- Once you are notified that the connection was successful, please click "Ok".
- The screen of the BBPOS Wise POS E pin pad terminal will now change as shown below.
- You will now see the BBPOS Wise POS E pin pad terminal listed in the shop that it was added to. The BBPOS Wise POS E pin pad terminal is now fully updated and paired with Lightspeed Retail R Series and ready to be used.
iPad
- Make sure that the iPad that will be using the BBPOS Wise POS E pin pad terminal is connected to a wireless network that can communicate with the BBPOS Wise POS E pin pad terminalvia its ethernet connection.
- Open the Lightspeed Retail R Series iPad app and log into your Lightspeed Retail R Series account as a user that has permissions to access the "Settings" section of the application.
- On the profile screen, tap "Payment terminal" in the section named "Devices".
- Tap "Add a payment terminal".
- Enter a name for the BBPOS Wise POS E pin pad terminal in the section named "Name".
- Select "BBPOS Wise POS E" as the desired pin pad terminal model.
- Tap "Add".
- On the BBPOS Wise POS E pin pad terminal, swipe your finger from the left-hand edge of the screen to the right to reveal the "Settings" button.
- Tap "Settings".
- Enter the admin PIN code "07139".
- Tap "Generate pairing code".
- In the section named "Activate code", enter the three word activation code exactly as it appears on the terminal's screen (including the hyphens).
- Tap "Done".
- This will start the updating process of the BBPOS Wise POS E pin pad terminal. This process will take multiple times to get the pin pad terminal fully updated and ready for use. The pin pad terminal will reboot multiple times until it has been fully updated. Until the pin pad terminal has been fully updated, you will need to repeat steps 4 through 13 and Lightspeed Retail will state that the connection failed as shown below. Please tap "OK" until you finally receive notification that the connection was successful. The process of the pin pad terminal installing updates can take 30 minutes or more depending upon what version it is at when it is shipped by Lightspeed Payments.
- Once you are notified that the connection was successful, please tap "Done".
- The terminal's name and status will be displayed. Tap "Done".
- The terminal's name and status will also be visible on the profile screen.
