The QuickBooks Web Connector is a free Windows application by Intuit that securely links web-based, third-party apps to QuickBooks Desktop.
Lightspeed Accounting utilizes the QuickBooks web-connector to transfer data to and from your QuickBooks application.
It is extremely important that the web-connector remains running at all times on your QuickBooks Desktop server.
How can you determine if the web-connector is running?
In reviewing the right side of your Windows Task-Bar you should see the web-connector icon in system tray.
If you do not see the icon in the system tray, click the caret (^) to the left of the system tray to confirm the icon is part of the many apps that do not display in the system tray on the task bar.
If the icon is not to be found, the web-connector is not running and will need to be started. Follow these steps to start the web-connector manually.
- Open your QuickBooks Desktop application on the QuickBooks Server PC and sign in.
- Click File / App Management / Update Web Services
The web-connector application will open as follows.
You may minimize ('_') or 'Hide' the web-connector and it will update automatically in the number of minutes entered in the 'Every-Min' box, as long as the check-mark is in the "Auto-Run" box.
To manually update the web-connector, simply place a check-mark in the box to the left (beginning of the line) and click the 'Update Selected' button at the top. Going forward, as long as the check-mark is in the "Auto-Run" box, the sync will happen automatically.
