Power Off
There are two main ways of powering off an iPad and they are listed below.
Using "Settings"
- Open "Settings".
- You will be automatically placed in the "General" section in the left hand window pane.
- In the main window pane named "General", scroll down to the bottom and tap "Shut Down".
- In the top center of the screen, slide the button named "slide to power off" from left to right.
- The screen will go black once the iPad has been turned off.
Using the Power Button
iPads That Have a Physical Home Button
- Press and hold the "Power" button until you see a button at the top center of the screen named "slide to power off".
- Slide the button named "slide to power off" from left to right.
- The screen will go black once the iPad has been turned off.
iPads That Don't Have a Physical Home Button
- Press and hold the "Power" button and either the "Volume Up" or "Volume Down" button until you see a button at the top center of the screen named "slide to power off".
- Slide the button named "slide to power off" from left to right.
- The screen will go black once the iPad has been turned off.
Power On

Using the Power Button
- Press and hold the "Power" button until you see the Apple logo appear.
Plugging in a Charging Cable Into the iPad
- Plug a charging cable that is connected to a power source into the iPad.
- The iPad will automatically power on due to it being charged.
