How to Perform an Automatic Backup of Your QBF Desktop Company File

1. Click "File".

2. Click "Back Up Company".

3. Click "Create Local Backup".

4. Click "Local backup".

5. Click "Options".

6. Click "Browse".

7. Drill down and select the folder that you wish to save the backups to and then click "OK".

8. The next option to select is the option named "Add the date and time of the backup to the file name (recommended)".

9. The next option to select is the option named "Limit the number of backup copies in this folder to".

10. You also have the ability to choose how many backups are going to be kept by entering a value in the box show below.

11. The next option you can choose to use is named "Remind me to back up when I close my company file every X times".  This option allows you to have the application remind you to backup your company file after the company file has been closed a specific number of times on the workstation that is being configured.

12. The last option that you need to choose is the verify data during backup option.  We recommend that you choose the option named "Complete verification (single-user mode only)".

13. Click "OK".

14. Click "Next".

15. Click "Only schedule future backups" and then click "Next".

16. Click "Save backup copy automatically when I close my company file ever X times".

17. Choose how many times you must close the company file for it to perform an automatic backup  and enter it in the text box shown below.  Typically you will enter "1" so that it backs up every time you close your QBF Desktop company file.

18. You can click on "Options" if you wish to change the backup settings for the automatic backups.

19. Click "Browse".

20. Drill down and select the folder that you wish to save the backup to and then click "OK".

21. The next option to select is the option named "Add the date and time of the backup to the file name (recommended)".

22. The next option to select is the option named "Limit the number of backup copies in this folder to".

23. You also have the ability to choose how many backups are going to be kept by entering a value in the box shown below.

The next option you can choose to use is named "Remind me to back up when I close my company file every X times".  This option allows you to have the application remind you to backup your company file after the company file has been closed a specific number of times on the workstation that is being configured

25. The last option that you need to choose is the verify data during backup option.  We recommend that you choose the option named "Complete verification (single-user mode only)".

26. Click "OK".

27. Click on "Finish" to complete configuring the automatic backups.

28. You will be notified that no backups are currently scheduled.  Click "OK".

29. Whenever you close/logoff your QBF Desktop company file in the application, it will now perform an automatic backup for you depending upon how many times you set the option in step #17.  If you set that option to "1", it will perform an automatic backup every time you close your company file.

30. The automatic backups will be named using the following convention. “ABU_X_CompanyName Date and Time.QBB”.  X will be a number starting at 0 and going to the maximum number of backups chosen.  For example: ABU_0_Company Name Feb 19,2018 10 55 AM.QBB

The most recent automatic backup will always be numbered 0.
